- Ask your child to count the coins received in change when shopping or to count a handful of coins at home. "How much are all the coins worth that I got in change from the store? More than one dollar?"
- Ask your child to estimate how long something is at home, and then measure to find the real length. "How long do you think this book is? Now let's measure and find the real length."
