- building fluency with addition and subtraction, including using coins and bills.
- using standard and metric units of measure.
- describing and analyzing shapes.
By the end of this year, students learn:
- to count by ones to 999 from any number other than 1, and to count by 10 from any number.
- to solve a variety of addition and subtraction word problems.
- that 10 tens make one hundred, and that the century numbers (100, 200, 300, etc.) are made of 1 hundred, 2 hundreds, 3 hundreds, etc.
- the addend pairs for numbers 1-20.
- to describe and analyze shapes in terms of sides and angles.
- to measure and estimate length using both metric and standard units of measure.
