Module 3:
"Place Value, Counting, and Comparison of Numbers to 1,000"
"Place Value, Counting, and Comparison of Numbers to 1,000"
In this module, students:
What can you do at home to support the learning in this module?
- Increase their understanding of place value to include hundreds.
- Explore converting place value units, like changing 1 hundred for 10 tens, or 3 tens for 30 ones, etc.
- Count by ones, tens, and hundreds within 1000, from any number to any number.
What can you do at home to support the learning in this module?
- Help your child compare numbers by asking questions about “greater than,” “less than,” and “equal to.” "Is 199 greater than, less than, or equal to 201? How do you know?" (You'd want your child to know that 201 has more hundreds than 199).
- Ask your child how many ones, tens, and hundreds are in numbers that you and your child come across. "How many hundreds are in 346? How many tens are there? How many ones are there?"
- Continue to practice counting by ones from any number to any number within 1000, and try counting by tens from any number to any number within 1000. "Let's count from 475" to 495, or "Let's count by tens from 27" to 87.
