Welcome to Math at Mallett in Kindergarten! 

Kindergarten mathematics is about:
  • Representing, relating, and operating on numbers, initially with sets of objects. 
  • Describing shapes and space.

By the end of this year, students learn:
  • to count to 100.  
  • that addition is "putting together," and subtraction is "taking apart." 
  • that the numbers 11-19 are made of ten ones and some more ones. 
  • the addend pairs for numbers 1-5.  
  • to identify shapes and describe their attributes.  
  • to compare shapes and quantities, using phrases such as "one more than," or "longer than."
